Bike Fest returns for fourth year

On Saturday 6 July, the 4th annual Shafton Bike Fest will take place. The event which will run from 12 pm to 3 pm, is a charity motorcycle show held by students at 蚂蚁福利导航 Academy Shafton and its charity committee to raise funds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Barnsley Food Bank. With more than 拢6,000 raised across the last three events, this year鈥檚 fundraising target has been set at 拢5,000.

Bike Fest founder Christopher Rooke, Technology Teacher at 蚂蚁福利导航 Academy Shafton, explains:

鈥淏ike Fest is run by our students and is a motorcycle show with a bit of a difference. The aim of Bike Fest is to raise awareness of motorcycling in the community, promote safe and responsible motorcycling, and dissuade antisocial behaviour on motorbikes. It also allows us to work with local businesses and motorcycle clubs 鈥 many of which, support us with donations for raffle prizes and hosting stalls.

鈥淥ver the years, Bike Fest鈥檚 popularity as a local community event has exploded, meaning that across the last three events, we have raised over 拢6,000, this year we鈥檇 like to raise more than ever.鈥

If businesses would like to sponsor the event, rent a stall, or donate raffle prizes, please contact Christopher Rooke at c.rooke@shafton.outwood.com.
